Long Island earns second consecutive shutout win behind righty’s six scoreless frames
(Central Islip, N.Y., July 16, 2021) – The Long Island Ducks shut out the York Revolution 1-0 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
The lone run of the ballgame came in the bottom of the first inning. A two-out RBI single to right field by Ryan Jackson off Revolution starter Austin Nicely was all the Ducks would need to earn the win.
Ducks starter Brendan Feldmann (2-1) was brilliant in the victory, tossing six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out eight. Nicely (4-4) suffered the hard-luck loss, giving up just one unearned run on four hits and two walks over seven innings with three strikeouts. Danny Barnes earned his second save with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out two.
L.J. Mazzilli led the Flock offensively with two hits and a run. Brady Dragmire escaped a bases loaded, no-out jam in a scoreless seventh inning, while Mike Bolsinger pitched a 1-2-3 eighth.
