LONG ISLAND COMPLETES SERIES SWEEP IN CAMDEN

Ducks score early and often to take series finale

(Camden, N.J., June 6, 2015) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 7-1 on Saturday night in the finale of a four-game series at Campbell’s Field.

The Ducks struck first in the third inning when Reegie Corona scored on a wild pitch by Riversharks starter Eric Smith. Jose Morales doubled the lead to two in the fourth with a two-out RBI single to left field.

Camden got on the scoreboard in the fourth on Joel Guzman’s RBI double to right off of Ducks starter Ian Marshall. However, Long Island answered with two runs in the fifth courtesy of Delta Cleary, Jr.’s RBI triple to right and Lew Ford’s run-scoring groundout to second.

Two more runs in the sixth on a pair of errors by the Riversharks ballooned the lead to 6-1. Long Island closed out their scoring in the seventh on Jon Griffin’s RBI double to right-center.

Marshall (3-1) earned the win, tossing eight innings, giving up just one run on five hits and one walk while striking out five. Smith (0-3) suffered the loss, surrendering two runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in four innings. Ryan Kussmaul worked a scoreless ninth inning to close out the sweep.

Cody Puckett led the Flock with three hits and two runs, while Griffin, Morales and Reegie Corona each added two hits.
