DUCKS OFFENSE STYMIED BY PATRIOTS

Long Island shut out for second straight game

(Bridgewater, N.J., May 29, 2015) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 3-0 on Friday night in the third game of a four-game series at TD Bank Ballpark.

Somerset got out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a RBI single from Robert Andino off of Ducks starter Billy Buckner. The Patriots extended the lead to 3-0 one inning later. After Thomas Neal’s walk, Chris Marrero’s two-run home run to left field did the damage.

Patriots starter David Harden (3-1) earned the win by tossing five shutout innings, allowing four hits while walking one and striking out two. R.J. Seidel, Paul Smyth, and Kyler Newby pitched three innings of scoreless relief before Jon Hunton earned his sixth save of the season for Somerset. Buckner (0-1) took the loss for Long Island, allowing three runs in four innings. He walked two and struck out seven. Nick Struck, Carmine Giardina, and Eric Niesen held the Patriots scoreless in relief.

Bryan Sabatella, Lew Ford, and Cody Puckett each had a double for Long Island.
