Neither side was able to push across a run until Sugar Land took a 1-0 lead in the eighth inning on a RBI single from Delwyn Young off Ducks starter Bobby Blevins. The Skeeters added to their lead in the ninth on a single from Dominic Ramos and a run-scoring error on the same play.

Long Island rallied back to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two-run single from Brandon Bantz off Skeeters closer Gary Majewski. However, the Skeeters took the lead back for good on a two-out, two-run single from Adam Godwin and a run-scoring wild pitch in the top of the 11th inning.

Neither starting pitcher factored into the decision. Blevins yielded one run on six hits and two walks with one strikeout over eight innings. Matt Wright tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five. Gary Majewski (5-0) picked up the win despite allowing two runs on four hits in two innings of relief. Jon Meloan (0-1) took the loss, surrendering three runs on two hits and two walks in two innings. Brian Broderick earned his fourth save of the year with a scoreless 11th inning.

Adam Bailey and Bantz paced the Ducks with two hits apiece.

Long Island hits the road for a four-game series with the Lancaster Barnstomers beginning on Thursday night. First pitch at Clipper Magazine Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. Right-hander Rob Whitenack will make the start for the Ducks against Barnstormers righty Cory Wade.
