THREE-RUN SIXTH LEADS DUCKS PAST REVS

Garceau earns league-leading eighth win

(York, Penn., June 26, 2014) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 4-3 on Thursday night at Santander Stadium in the first of a four-game series.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the Ducks' 4-3 victory

York grabbed an early lead in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI double from Wilson Valdez and a RBI groundout from Chad Tracy off Ducks starter Shaun Garceau. The Ducks cut the deficit in half in the top of the second with a solo home run from Brendan Harris off Revolution starter Jorge Martinez.

The score remained 2-1 until Long Island plated three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead. A RBI double from Randy Ruiz tied the game at two before a two-out, two-run double from Joash Brodin gave the Flock the lead. After a 30-minute rain delay, a pinch-hit RBI single from Travis Garcia in the bottom of the sixth brought the Revolution within a run, but York would get no closer.

Shaun Garceau (8-1) earned the win, yielding three runs on six hits, four walks and three strikeouts in five and two-thirds innings. Jorge Martinez (3-2) received the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits with three walks in five and one-third innings of work. Jon Meloan earned his eighth save of the year with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.

Fehlandt Lentini led the Ducks bats with three hits, while Brodin pitched in with two runs batted in.
