DUCKS DROP SERIES FINALE TO PATS

Adam Bailey drives in three in 5-4 loss

(Bridgewater, N.J., June 16, 2014)
– The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 5-4 Monday night at TD Bank Ballpark in the final game of a four-game series.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the series finale against the Patriots

Long Island grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single from Adam Bailey off Patriots starter Derell McCall. Somerset immediately responded in the bottom of the first on a two-run double from Adam Donachie off Ducks starter Jared Lansford to take a 2-1 lead.

The Ducks evened the ballgame in the third on a Bailey RBI single before Brendan Harris gave the Flock a 3-2 lead in the fourth with a solo home run. Damaso Espino tied the game at three the next half-inning on a two-out single to left.

Somerset regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out, two-run single from Jonny Tucker. Long Island trimmed the deficit in the seventh on a RBI fielder’s choice from Bailey, but that was as close as the Ducks would get.

Lansford (2-3) received the loss after allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits, one walk and four strikeouts in six innings. McCall (3-2) earned the win, yielding three runs, seven hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Jon Hunton earned his 14th save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.

Fehlandt Lentini paced the Ducks bats with four hits on the night, while Harris pitched in with three hits and Bailey recorded three RBI.

The Ducks will now migrate south down I-95 for a four-game series with the Camden Riversharks, beginning Tuesday night at Campbell’s Field.
