A RBI groundout in the first inning by Brian Burgamy put Sugar Land on top first. A RBI single to right by Josh Pressley in the third extended the lead to two. Long Island plated a run in the sixth on Adam Bailey’s RBI single to center but could not pull even.

Skeeters starter David Pauley (5-3) earned the win, tossing six innings, allowing just one run on seven hits with one strikeout. Ducks starter Shaun Garceau (1-1) took the hard luck loss, yielding two runs on five hits while striking out four in seven innings. Gary Majewski picked up his 20th save with a scoreless ninth.

Bryant Nelson led the Flock with three hits while Lew Ford and Kraig Binick each added two.

The Ducks and Skeeters wrap up their four-game set on Monday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35. Right-hander Bob Zimmermann toes the rubber for the Ducks against Skeeters righty Michael Nix. It’s the Eighth Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the ballpark, presented by Good Samaritan Hospital. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Commemorative Pink T-Shirts while the first 5,000 fans through the gates will take home Commemorative Pamphlets. Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza.

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Night, the Ducks will be wearing special jerseys which will be auctioned off through the seventh inning stretch of Monday’s game. Fans can place their bids by visiting the auction tables located outside the Waddle In Shop, and net proceeds from the auction will benefit the Breast Cancer Awareness organization and coalitions in attendance.
