SKEETERS QUIET DUCKS BATS

Long Island held to three hits

(Sugar Land, Texas, Aug. 12, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Sugar Land Skeeters 9-0 on Monday night in the fourth game of a six-game series at Constellation Field.

Sugar Land opened the scoring on a Jeff Dominguez RBI infield single in the third inning off Ducks starter Bill Murphy. The Skeeters scored two runs on an error in the fifth, and added two more in the sixth on an Aaron Bates home run to left field and a RBI single for Michael Rockett. Sugar Land added four more runs in the seventh to secure the win.

Sugar Land starter Ben Kozlowski (1-1) recorded the win allowing just one hit in five shutout innings. Murphy (2-13) suffered the loss, giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits in five and two-thirds innings.

The Ducks continue their six-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters Tuesday night. Game time is slated for 8:05 p.m. EDT from Constellation Field. Left-hander James Houser starts for the Ducks while Clint Everts toes the rubber for the Skeeters.

Long Island returns home on Thursday, August 15 when they battle the York Revolution in the opener of a four-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. Tickets for the game and all Ducks regular season home games are now on sale.
