Two-run doubles by Josh Barfield and Hall along with an Adam Bailey RBI single to right and Ray Navarrete’s sacrifice fly accounted for the scoring.

Southern Maryland scored three runs in the third inning, but Bailey answered with a two-run single in the bottom half of the frame to push the lead to 10-4. Cyle Hankerd hit a two-run homer for the Blue Crabs in the top of the fifth, but that would wrap up the scoring.

Long Island starter John Brownell (8-5) recorded the win, allowing six runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in five innings. Ballard (6-6) took the loss for Southern Maryland, letting up eight runs on seven hits in just two innings of work.
