BLUEFISH KEEP DUCKS BATS AT BAY

Long Island manages just one hit in series finale

(Bridgeport, Conn, July 14, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks fell to the Bridgeport Bluefish 6-0 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Iggy Suarez started the scoring for Bridgeport with a two-run home run to left field in the second inning. The Bluefish scored four more runs in the eighth inning, and the Ducks offense could not muster a comeback.

Bridgeport starter Mike Parisi (3-11) picked up the win throwing seven shutout, one-hit innings with seven strikeouts. Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings.

The Ducks return home on Monday to take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. It’s Camp Day, with a special 11:05 a.m. first pitch. The Bethpage Ballpark gates will open at 10:05. Southpaw Dontrelle Willis gets the start for the Ducks against Blue Crab starter to be named.
