Ducks sign Erick Threets

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 26, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of pitcher Erick Threets. The former Major Leaguer begins his first season with the Ducks and first in the Atlantic League.

“Erick has been successful at every level throughout his career,” says Ducks president and general manager Michael Pfaff. “We are excited to add another quality left-handed arm to our pitching staff.”

Threets spent parts of three seasons at the Major League level, pitching for the San Francisco Giants (2007-08) and Chicago White Sox (2010). In 21 games, the southpaw has a 3.28 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 24 and two-thirds innings. A native of California, he pitched in spring training this season with the Colorado Rockies organization and tossed two scoreless innings.

The 31-year-old has 10 seasons of professional baseball experience. Last season, he split time with Sacramento (AAA, Athletics) and Albuquerque (AAA, Dodgers), combining to go 6-4 with a 2.79 ERA and four saves in 52 games. In 343 career minor league games (21 starts), he has a record of 24-27, a 3.56 ERA and 11 saves while striking out 451 batters in 522 and two-thirds innings. Threets was originally drafted by the Giants in the seventh round of the 2000 amateur draft.
