DUCKS RALLY LATE TO BEAT SHARKS

Ducks come back to win fifth straight

(Camden, N.J., May 22, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 6-4 on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game series at Campbell’s Field.

GAME AUDIO: Highlights from the victory

Camden opened the scoring in the first inning on RBI singles by Raul Padron and Johnny Drennen. The Ducks grabbed one back when Rian Kiniry singled P.J. Phillips home in the third inning. Camden immediately responded with Paddy Matera driving in a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning.

The Ducks cut into the lead in the sixth inning when Kiniry tripled and then scored on a wild pickoff throw by Camden catcher Raul Padron. Long Island took the lead in the seventh inning when pinch-runner Gabe Suarez scored on a dropped third strike and Dan Lyons knocked a RBI triple to left field. Camden tied the game in the bottom of the inning, but the Ducks struck for two in the eighth on a Bryant Nelson RBI double to left field and a Ralph Henriquez RBI single to left.

Kiniry, Joash Brodin and Adam Bailey each notched two hits for the Ducks.

Eric Niesen (1-0) earned the win in relief. Ryan Quigley (1-2) took the loss for Camden. Neither starter factored in the decision. Nick DeBarr threw six innings, giving up four hits and three runs. Riversharks starter Mike McGuire surrendered seven hits and three runs (two earned) in six and two-thirds innings. Leo Rosales threw a scoreless ninth to record his eighth save.
