James Skelton put the Bees on top early with a solo home run to left-center field in the first inning off Ducks starter Matt Larkins. Marc Krauss responded in the bottom of the inning by launching a two-out, three-run homer to right field off Bees starter Brian Dupra.

New Britain closed to within 3-2 in the second on a solo homer to right-center off the bat of Jamar Walton. However, two-out RBI singles by Anthony Vega and Lew Ford in the bottom of the frame pushed Long Island’s advantage to three. Elmer Reyes followed with a two-run blast to left-center in the third that ballooned the lead to 7-2.

The offense continued for the Flock with four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Vega’s two-run homer to center, a two-run single by Jordan Pacheco and an RBI double by Ford highlighted the scoring.

Larkins (4-6) picked up the win, pitching six innings, allowing six runs on 13 hits while striking out five. Dupra (3-7) suffered the loss, surrendering 11 runs (nine earned) on nine hits and three walks over three and one-third innings with one strikeout. Rob Rogers, Zac Treece and John Lannan each pitched a scoreless inning in relief for Long Island.

Vega led the Flock with four hits, finishing a triple shy of the cycle, and drove in three runs while scoring four times. Reyes and Fehlandt Lentini each had three hits, with Reyes collecting three RBI. Krauss finished with two hits, three RBI, three runs and two walks.
