Both sides were held off the scoreboard over the first five and a half innings. Ducks starter Alfredo Simon threw five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and four walks while striking out four. Patriots starter Jerome Williams pitched four and one-third innings of scoreless baseball before leaving with an injury and gave up four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Long Island broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run to right-center field by Marc Krauss off of Alex Gouin. Somerset pulled even at two in the top of the eighth with an RBI single by Greg Golson and a bases loaded walk to Christian Marrero from Patrick Crider.

The Ducks took the lead back for good in the bottom of the frame. RBI singles by Alex Burg and Giovanny Alfonzo put the Flock back in front 4-2.

Zac Treece (4-1) picked up the win after recording the final out of the eighth inning, leaving the bases loaded. Justin Wright (2-1) took the loss after surrendering two runs on four hits in his one inning of relief. Amalio Diaz earned his second save of the year with a perfect ninth inning.

Krauss, Burg, Alfonzo and Angelo Songco each had two hits to pace the Flock.

The Ducks and Patriots wrap up their four-game set on Thursday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). Thursday marks the return of the Kids Health and Safety Expo, and tables will be set up along the concourse featuring ways children can stay safe and healthy all year long, with tips from staffers at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Quackers, courtesy of Stony Brook Children's. It's also a Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, and all fans are invited to visit the Duck Club restaurant and bar, normally reserved for VIP/season ticket holders, on the suite level. There will be both drink and food specials featured, including half price domestics. Right-hander Dennis O’Grady (2-3, 4.32) gets the ball for the Ducks against Patriots righty David Kubiak (2-5, 3.59).
