Ducks starter John Brownell (4-1) was spectacular on the mound for Long Island. The right-hander pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits and a walk over nine innings while striking out seven. With the start and victory, he tied Randy Leek (2007-10) for the all-time franchise records in wins (40) and games started (91).

Sugar Land took an early 1-0 lead in the first on a two-out RBI single to left field by Jeremy Barfield. However, Cody Puckett answered with an RBI fielder’s choice in the bottom of the first to even the score at one.

A three-run third inning put the Ducks in front 4-1. Fehlandt Lentini’s solo home run to left and Puckett’s two-run homer to left off Skeeters starter Parker Frazier highlighted the frame. Two more runs came across in the fifth on Mike Blanke’s RBI fielder’s choice and Blake Tekotte’s RBI double.

Ruben Gotay launched his first Ducks homer in the seventh, a solo blast to left, increasing the advantage to 7-1. An RBI triple by Anthony Vega and a run-scoring groundout from Matt Wessinger capped the scoring. Frazier (5-2) suffered the loss, yielding six runs on 10 hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings.

Dan Lyons led the Flock with four hits, scoring twice as well. Lentini added three hits and three runs, while Puckett finished with three RBI.
