Somerset took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run to right field by Bryan LaHair off of Ducks starter Mark Blackmar. A two-out RBI single by Eric Farris in the third extended the lead to two.

Long Island closed to within one in the bottom of the third on a RBI double to right-center by Matt Wessinger off of Patriots starter Scott McGregor. However, a two-run homer to left-center in the fourth pushed the Patriots advantage to 4-1. Vidal’s second two-run home run of the night in the sixth and LaHair’s second solo homer in the eighth put the game out of reach.

McGregor (2-1) earned the win with a complete game effort, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out three. Blackmar (2-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on four hits and four walks with one strikeout in four and two-thirds innings.

The Ducks continue their homestand on Friday night when they open a four-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders).
