Long Island opened the scoring in the first inning for a second consecutive night on a sacrifice fly to left off the bat of Lew Ford. Southern Maryland answered with a pair of runs in the second on a RBI double by Kuan Jen-Chen off of Ducks starter Jack Snodgrass and a run-scoring throwing error. However, back-to-back RBI singles by Cody Puckett and Mike Dowd in the bottom of the frame off Blue Crabs starter Scott Snodgress put the Flock back in front 3-2.

The Ducks extended the lead to 5-2 in the fourth on a run-scoring wild pitch and a RBI groundout by Fehlandt Lentini. A five-run fifth for the Flock followed and broke the game open. A RBI single by Dan Lyons and a bases clearing, three-run triple by Lentini highlighted the inning.

Snodgrass (1-1) earned the win, pitching six innings of two-run ball (one earned), yielding just five hits and three walks while striking out nine. Snodgress (0-1) took the loss, giving up five runs on five hits and four walks with two strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings.

Blake Tekotte led the Flock with two hits and three runs, while Lentini totaled four RBI.

The Ducks and Blue Crabs continue their four-game set on Saturday night. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to the first Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza of the season, presented by Astoria Bank. In addition, Ducks staff members will be handing out coupons for a special offer from Dick’s Sporting Goods to fans as they exit the ballpark following the fireworks show.
