York got the scoring started in the first inning. Eric Patterson’s two-run homer off of Ducks starter John Brownell put the Revolution ahead 2-0. Jon Griffin got one run back in the bottom of the frame for Long Island with a RBI single to right against York starter Rommie Lewis. Back-to-back solo homers from Andres Perez and Yeicok Calderon in the second inning extended York’s lead and made it a 4-1 ballgame.

Steve McQuail’s solo homer in the fourth for the Ducks cut the lead to 4-2. Randy Ruiz tied the game with a two-run homer in the sixth. Dan Lyons hit a deciding solo homer in the seventh off of Edward Paredes to give Long Island a 5-4 lead. Ducks closer Ryan Kussmaul worked around a leadoff triple in the ninth to secure the one-run victory.

Nick Struck (3-2) earned the win for Long Island, pitching a 1-2-3 seventh frame with two strikeouts. Paredes (1-1) suffered the loss for York, allowing one run on one hit with two walks and one strikeout in the seventh. Both starters took a no decision. Brownell tossed six innings, allowing four runs on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Lewis pitched five frames, giving up three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out two. Duck Tales: The Ducks launched three home runs in Monday’s game, tying a season-high. Long Island also went deep three times on Saturday against Somerset, July 5 against Somerset, May 14 against Bridgeport and May 2 against Sugar Land. The Ducks have now gone deep in six consecutive games, hitting 11 longballs in that span. As a team, they’ve hit 55 homers this year, which ranks second in the league behind Lancaster (65)…Steve McQuail’s solo home run in the fourth inning was his fifth of the season in five starts (six games) with Long Island. Four of the five have come on this homestand. The Wantagh native has now collected seven hits in his first 21 at-bats this year (.333 batting average)…Randy Ruiz’s two-run homer in the sixth inning was his sixth of the season. Four of the six have come at home and have come during the month of July. The former Major Leaguer has now gone deep in two of the last three games and three of the last nine contests…Dan Lyons’ solo homer in the seventh inning was his sixth of the season, the most he has hit in a single season with the Ducks. He’s also one shy of tying his career-high for homers in a year, which he did in 2008 with Single-A Hagerstown and Advanced-A Potomac. It was also the shortstop’s first longball since July 3, ending a 12-game homerless drought…Amalio Diaz worked another scoreless eighth inning. The right-hander has now allowed just two runs over his last 20 appearances, posting a 0.82 ERA in that span. He has given up just 12 hits and one walk over 22 innings in those games while striking out 27 batters.
