DUCKS SHARK BITTEN IN HOMESTAND FINALE

11-hit effort comes up short vs. Camden

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 30, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 6-3 on Thursday night in the final game of a two-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

GAME AUDIO: Joash Brodin's RBI double, Bryant Nelson's RBI double and Adam Bailey's solo home run

POSTGAME VIDEO: Nick DeBarr and Adam Bailey talk about the game and the upcoming road trip

Long Island struck right away for two runs in the first off Camden starter Jeff Farnsworth on RBI doubles from Joash Brodin and Bryant Nelson. The Riversharks pulled even with single runs in the second and third off Ducks starter Nick DeBarr. A solo home run by Eduardo Perez and a sac fly to center by Paddy Matera highlighted the scoring.

Adam Bailey immediately answered in the bottom of the third with a solo blast to right-center to put the Ducks back in front. However, Camden tied the game in the fifth on a sac fly to right by Delwyn Young and took the lead in the sixth on Chris Walker’s RBI fielder’s choice. A solo homer by Raul Padron and a run-scoring error in the eighth extended the lead to three.

Neither starter factored into the decision. DeBarr tossed five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and five walks while Farnsworth pitched four innings, surrendering three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. Andrew Johnston (1-0) collected the win with two scoreless innings of relief, and Royce Ring (0-1) took the loss, allowing a run on two hits in one inning of work. Ryan Quigley earned his first save with a scoreless ninth.

Brodin, Bailey, Danny Perales and P.J. Phillips each had two hits to lead the Flock.

The Ducks begin a seven-game road trip on Friday night when they open a four-game series against the York Revolution. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Sovereign Bank Stadium. Left-hander James Houser will get the start for the Ducks against Revolution righty Corey Thurman.
