Delta Cleary Jr.’s RBI single in the bottom of the first inning gave Long Island a 1-0 lead. It stayed that way until the sixth when Bridgeport scored a pair of two-out runs. Endy Chavez came home on a throwing error, and Jonathan Galvez’s RBI single made it a 2-1 ballgame.

Mike Blanke tied the game at two in the seventh with an RBI double to left field. However, the Bluefish scored in the ninth on Adron Chambers’ two-out RBI single to take the lead for good.

Neither starter factored into the decision. Ducks starter Bobby Blevins allowed two unearned runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one over six innings. Blake Beavan tossed six and two-third innings of six-hit ball, allowing two runs (one earned) with five strikeouts and one walk. Frank DeJiulio Jr. (3-0) collected the win with a scoreless eighth inning, while Todd Coffey (1-4) suffered the loss, allowing one run on two hits with one walk in one inning. Jose Veras earned his fourth save, striking out two and walking one in one inning.

Cody Puckett and Cleary Jr. tallied two hits apiece to lead Long Island, while Fehlandt Lentini and Ruben Gotay each scored runs.
