DUCKS ATTACK SHARKS
Long Island belts 13 hits en route to victory
(Camden, N.J., June 1, 2010) – The Long Island Ducks defeated the Camden Riversharks 6-3 on Tuesday night at Campbell’s Field.
GAME AUDIO: John Rodriguez Delivers
Ray Navarrete’s RBI single in the top of the first inning off Sharks' starter Steve Hammond got the Ducks on the board. A three-run third helped push Long Island’s lead to four. A RBI double by John Rodriguez, RBI sac fly off the bat of Robinson Cancel and RBI single smoked into center field by Johnny Hernandez gave the Ducks a 4-0 advantage.
Rodriguez wasn’t finished as he ripped his first homer of the season over the right field wall in the visitor’s seventh, and the Ducks had a 5-0 lead.
That was all Ducks’ starter Randy Leek (7-1) would need as he threw seven innings, yielding six hits and two runs, with five punch-outs. Joe Esposito worked the eighth and Kane Davis picked up his seventh save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Navarrete, Hernandez and Rodriguez each had two hits, while Erick Monzon led the way with three.
