In game one, Southern Maryland claimed the game’s first run when Casey Benjamin blasted a solo homer in the top of the first inning. Octavio Martinez’ RBI sacrifice fly in the second helped push the Crabs’ lead to 2-0.
A four-run sixth off Ducks’ starter Jake Dittler extended Southern Maryland’s lead to 7-0. Martinez’ RBI single and Kody Kirkland's three-run homer highlighted the inning.
Southern Maryland starter Dan Reichert (7-4) went the distance in a complete game shutout, scattering seven hits, while striking out 10. Dittler (4-4) absorbed the loss, surrendering 10 hits and seven runs in six innings of work. Julio Guerrero fired three perfect innings in relief for the Flock.
