Vega returns for his fourth season with the Ducks and seventh in professional baseball. The outfielder played in 57 games with Long Island in 2017, totaling three home runs, 19 RBI, 35 runs, five doubles, three triples and 10 stolen bases. He also appeared in six postseason games, registering a homer, two RBI, six runs, six walks and a stolen base. The Patchogue resident previously played 125 games for the Ducks in 2016 and batted .249 with a team-high 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 75 runs, 16 doubles, nine triples and 24 stolen bases. He was also selected to play in his first Atlantic League All-Star Game. Vega split time during the 2015 season between the Ducks and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and combined to play in 83 games, hitting .262 with four home runs, 27 RBI, 47 runs, nine doubles and nine triples. The speedster also stole 16 bases for the season while getting caught stealing just twice.
The 26-year-old began his career by playing three seasons in the Baltimore Orioles organization. In 179 games, he totaled seven homers, 48 RBI, 77 runs, 21 doubles, 10 triples and 29 stolen bases. The Bronx native and University of Arizona graduate began his baseball career at Patchogue-Medford High School on Long Island before going on to play with Manhattan College. Vega was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 30th round of the 2012 amateur draft.
