The Ducks tacked on the game's first run in the second inning against Patriots’ starter Jason Monti. Matt Cavagnaro’s RBI single drove home Robinson Cancel to put the hosts ahead 1-0.
John Rodriguez put Long Island back in front in the sixth with a solo home run over the right field wall, giving the Ducks a 2-1 advantage. The Pats quickly tied the score in the bottom of the frame courtesy of Pete LaForest's RBI single to right.
The Flock flexed their muscles again in the eighth when they took the lead for good against Patriots’ reliever Carlos Hines. Ray Navarrete’s opposite field solo homer and Javier Colina’s two-run dinger to left pushed the Ducks ahead 5-2.
