Ducks present third Empire Angel award of season
(Central Islip, N.Y., July 16, 2010) – At Friday’s game, the YMCA of Long Island was recognized as the third “Empire Angel” of the 2010 season. YMCA of Long Island Executive VP of Operations Anne Brigis received a plaque, hat, t-shirt, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch. The YMCA of Long Island is a charitable, not-for-profit, community based organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of children, adults and families through programs that build spirit, mind and body.
The Long Island Ducks have teamed up with Empire BlueCross BlueShield to present the "Empire Angels" program. This program has been designed to recognize those who give back to their community and are selfless in helping others. Those selected as the "Empire Angel" will receive four tickets to the game, be recognized during a pre-game on-field ceremony, and throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Empire BlueCross BlueShield and the Ducks will honor an "Empire Angel" at the Ducks’ home game on Friday, August 6th, with the final "Empire Angel" recognition on Labor Day, Monday, September 6th, when the Ducks play the Bridgeport Bluefish at 6:35 P.M.
