EMPIRE ANGEL LISA VANDERBURG

CSEA member presented with final “Empire Angel” award of 2011

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 10, 2011) – At Saturday’s game between the Long Island Ducks and the Camden Riversharks, presented by Empire BlueCross BlueShield, Lisa Vanderburg was recognized as the final “Empire Angel” of the 2011 season. Vanderburg was presented with a plaque to recognize her contributions to the Long Island community.

Vanderburg is a parent, PTA member, CSEA member, Levittown resident for 22 years, and employee for 18 years. She has devoted her time to the children of her community. She’s received multiple honorable awards including the Excelsior Award recognizing a CSEA member who helped promote and foster athletic spirit in their local school district. Vanderburg has been involved in many committees and organizations obtaining turf fields, additional athletic teams for more student involvement, new uniforms, and healthier food options.

The Long Island Ducks have teamed up with Empire BlueCross BlueShield to present the "Empire Angels" program. This program has been designed to recognize those who give back to their community and are selfless in helping others. Those selected as the "Empire Angel" will receive four tickets to the game, be recognized during a pre-game on-field ceremony, and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark and are in their 12^th season of play. Individual game tickets for the 2011 season are on sale now.
