DUCK TO CLASS CONTINUES
(Kings Park, N.Y., January 11, 2011) – On Tuesday, The Long Island Ducks spent the morning with Julia Labrador and all of her classmates at RJO Intermediate School in Kings Park. Julia was the third of four winners in the TD Bank Take a Duck to Class Essay Contest and as part of her prize she received a special visit from QuackerJack and All-Star Ray Navarrete.
Before the grade-wide assembly was underway, Smithtown Branch Manager Michelle Zeiger and Vice President of Suburban New York Marketing, Eric Fishon, praised Julia for her winning essay and will be sending Julia a $25 Visa gift card as a special prize. Julia read her winning essay in front of the entire fifth grade and took pictures with QuackerJack. After Julia finished reading her essay, Navarrete spoke to the children about the importance of community and education in his life and career. When the questions were over, Ray and QuackerJack headed up to Julia’s fifth grade classroom where they signed autographs. Each student in Julia’s class was given a gift bag full of goodies courtesy of TD Bank.
Contestants were able to pick up applications from local TD Bank locations, and after, submitted an essay on “Why my community is important to me.” Out of hundreds of essays received from all over the Island, four winners were selected. Each winner receives a visit from a Ducks player and Long Island’s most popular mascot, QuackerJack.
